Ministries that Make a Difference
The Sunday School Ministry is dedicated to helping children grow in the knowledge, love, and life of Jesus Christ through the teachings of the Holy Orthodox Church. We believe that every child is a precious gift from God and an important member of the Church. Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where children can learn the Holy Scriptures, understand Orthodox traditions, and develop a lifelong relationship with God.
The Mothers Union is a vibrant ministry that brings together Orthodox women to grow spiritually, support one another, and serve both the Church and the wider community. Inspired by the example of the Most Holy Theotokos (the Virgin Mary) and the holy women of the Church, the Mothers Union seeks to strengthen the faith of women while promoting Christian family life, compassion, and service. Through prayer, fellowship, and active participation in the life of the Church, members become instruments of God's love and peace.
The Papadhias Ministry brings together the wives of Orthodox priests in a spirit of faith, fellowship, and service. United by their shared calling, Papadhias support their husbands in pastoral ministry while offering their own unique gifts in the life and mission of the Church. Although not ordained to the priesthood, Papadhias play a vital role in strengthening parish life, encouraging Christian families, mentoring women and young people, and supporting the spiritual growth of the faithful. Through their quiet witness, compassion, and dedication, they reflect the love of Christ in their homes, parishes, and communities.
Inspired by the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and the examples of the Holy Apostles and Saints, the Association encourages men to become faithful disciples, responsible leaders, devoted husbands and fathers, and active servants in the life of the Church. Through prayer, spiritual formation, fellowship, and community service, members are equipped to live out their Orthodox Christian faith and to bear witness to Christ in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
The Liturgical Service Ministry is dedicated to preserving the beauty, reverence, and sacred traditions of Orthodox worship. Through the Divine Liturgy and the daily services of the Church, we glorify God, proclaim the Gospel, and lead the faithful into a deeper communion with Christ. The Holy Liturgy is the heart of Orthodox Christian life. It is where the faithful gather as one body to offer thanksgiving, receive the Holy Eucharist, and experience the presence of God through prayer, Scripture, sacred hymnography, and the Holy Mysteries.
The Youth Ministry is dedicated to nurturing young people in the Orthodox Christian faith and equipping them to become faithful disciples, compassionate leaders, and active members of the Church. In today's rapidly changing world, young people face many spiritual, social, and personal challenges. Our ministry provides a welcoming and supportive environment where they can grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, deepen their Orthodox faith, and build lasting friendships rooted in Christian love.
The Clergy Ministry is entrusted with the sacred responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Holy Mysteries, and providing pastoral care to the faithful throughout the Metropolis. Our clergy serve as spiritual shepherds, following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. Through prayer, preaching, teaching, and the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and the Sacraments, they guide the faithful in their journey of faith and help build vibrant parish communities rooted in the Orthodox tradition.
The Lay Readers Ministry is a ministry of dedicated men and women who have been entrusted with the important responsibility of reading the Holy Scriptures and assisting in the liturgical life of the Church. Lay Readers serve with reverence, humility, and devotion, helping the faithful hear and understand the Word of God during the Divine Services. Through their ministry, they contribute to the orderly celebration of worship and support the spiritual life of the parish.
The Mission and Evangelism Ministry exists to proclaim the Good News of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and to share the love of God with all people. Guided by the Great Commission, we are committed to making Christ known through faithful witness, compassionate service, and the living tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church. Our mission extends beyond the walls of our churches into towns, villages, schools, and communities across the Metropolis. Through evangelism, pastoral outreach, education, and acts of charity, we seek to bring hope, healing, and the light of Christ to all.
The ministries of the Orthodox Metropolis of Eldoret and Northern Kenya are at the heart of our mission to proclaim the Gospel, strengthen the faithful, and serve our communities with the love of Christ.
