Metropolis to Host Students Retreat 2026

Metropolis to Host Students Retreat 2026

The Orthodox Metropolis of Eldoret and Northern Kenya is preparing to host its annual Students Retreat, bringing together young Orthodox Christians from across the Metropolis for four days of spiritual growth, fellowship, learning, and personal development. Scheduled to take place from 13th to 16th August 2026 at Maraba Deanery, the retreat is expected to attract secondary school graduates, college and technical institute students, university students, and young people preparing to pursue studies abroad. Held with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Neofitos Kong'ai, this year's retreat will be guided by the theme "Think & Rise", inspired by the words of the Prophet Isaiah:

"Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you." (Isaiah 60:1)

The theme encourages young people to cultivate wisdom, faith, and purpose as they prepare for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Participants will be challenged to think critically, grow spiritually, and rise above fear, uncertainty, and mediocrity while embracing their calling as faithful Orthodox Christians in the modern world. The retreat programme will feature daily worship services, spiritual teachings, discussions, leadership formation sessions, and practical workshops aimed at helping students strengthen both their academic and spiritual lives. Participants will also have opportunities to interact with fellow students from different parishes, build lasting friendships, and share experiences that encourage mutual growth and support. In addition to the spiritual and educational sessions, the retreat will include recreational activities and an organized hike to the famous Nandi Rock, offering participants an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of God's creation while fostering teamwork and fellowship. The Department of Tertiary Education and Students Affairs views the retreat as an important platform for nurturing future leaders of both the Church and society. By bringing students together in an environment of prayer, learning, and community, the retreat seeks to inspire a generation that is firmly rooted in Orthodox faith while actively engaging with the world around them. Students wishing to participate are encouraged to register through their respective parish offices. A contribution of Ksh. 500 has been set to assist with preparations and logistics. The Metropolis invites all eligible students to take part in this important gathering and encourages parish communities to support and pray for the success of the retreat. As young Orthodox Christians prepare to gather in Maraba, the call remains clear: to think with purpose, rise in faith, and shine brightly as witnesses of Christ in the world.
